How to sand 3D prints without losing edges or fit
Sand a 3D print without losing edges or fit by defining protected geometry before the first abrasive pass. Mask mating faces, mark edges, support flat surfaces with a block and remove material in a planned direction. Inspect and dry-fit between short stages rather than sanding continuously. Stop when the surface meets the required finish or a critical dimension approaches its limit, whichever comes first.
